GUGLIELMO STELLA, (Italian, 1828-1888), signed oil on canvas, (Firenza, 1888), allegorical scene, farming figures in a landscape, with Juno in a chariot drawn by swans and attendant amorini, fine carved and gilded frame (very fragile due to age of wood) with scrolling leaves and acanthus leaf above. Stella was knighted into the Order of the Crown of Italy. He also became Consigliere Comunale to the council of Venice. In his official positions, he vigorously opposed the projects involving large demolitions that planned for Venice
